Mike Hughes grew up in the Ozark hill country of Stone County, Arkansas, where he spent his childhood exploring forests, creeks, and the wild spaces between home and horizon. He built a career as an engineer and leader in the power industry, but his heart never left those backcountry adventures. Mike writes young adult fiction filled with humor, warmth, and wonder, drawing inspiration from a childhood when kids roamed free, caused mischief, and discovered themselves beneath open skies. When he’s not writing, Mike enjoys spending time outdoors, speaking at public events, and hiking.
